Corrections
1. It's not "Georvasilis." It's "Georvassilis." A mystery reader (probably Gregg Welch from L.A.) pointed this out.
2. The car I'm driving is seventeen years old, not seven years old. That's okay. It's still a little spring chicken in my book.
Well actually it's neither, both Georvasilis and Georvassilis are incorrect.
GeorvaSSilis (with the double S)is wrong because the name Vasilis in Greek is spelled with one S after the first A. So this is definately not the way to go.
However, even Georvasilis (with one S) is grammatically incorrect in the Greek language. The combination of the R followed by the V is not at all correct. Come to Greece and any Greek will tell you that.
It is mostly likely that our name Georvasilis was originally GeRovasilis (the R and the O switched) with a literal meaning of "old man Vasilis" = old man Bill.
